Social Farming refers to the use of commercial farms and agricultural landscapes as a basis for promoting mental and physical health through agricultural activity. It is a growing movement that uses agricultural resources to provide social care or educational services to a wide range of people [Hine, R. et al. (2008) Social Farming in the UK: Evidence and Opportunities, Report for the National Social Farming Initiative (UK)].<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The aim of the CARE-T-FARMS project is to create training materials that provide people with the necessary skills to scale up Social Farming experiences across Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Social Agriculture is based on the principle of using agricultural activities for therapeutic purposes to promote the physical and mental health and well-being of people. It is generally associated with horticulture, animal-assisted activities and traditional food processing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As a result of the CARE-T-FARMS project, three free and open access online training modules will be developed, each of which will have its own target audience.
