Project HeritageLens

Visual Narratives on Cultural Heritage resilience against Climate Change

Web page: heritage-lens.com

The HeritageLens project addresses the accelerating threats that climate change poses to Europe’s cultural heritage, threatening not only iconic sites but also the identity and social cohesion of European societies. By fostering cross-collaboration between emerging photographers, heritage experts and environmental activists, the project promotes a holistic understanding of these challenges and the resilience required to face them.

Through photography—an art form uniquely capable of linking awareness with action—the project combines the efforts of photography centres in Italy, Latvia, Poland, and Spain with partners across Europe. This transnational initiative will enable 12 emerging photographers to explore and document the resilience of cultural heritage in the face of climate change. These creators will participate in interdisciplinary workshops and receive mentorship to refine their work and contribute to a shared narrative of adaptation and hope.

The project not only supports the creation and dissemination of powerful artistic works, but also inspires collective action, bridging cultural preservation with environmental responsibility on a European scale.
