Improving quality, inclusion and access to AdEd through digital innovation and acquisition of green entrepreneurial skills of adults with fewer opportunities

Adults with fewer opportunities often face barriers to accessing training and employment, while the green and digital transitions are creating demand for new competences. Low-skilled and unemployed adults, migrants, refugees, people living in rural areas and young adults outside employment, education or training may have limited access to flexible learning opportunities that prepare them for emerging green jobs and entrepreneurship.

GREENovation responds to this challenge by developing accessible blended learning resources focused on green, entrepreneurial, digital and job-related skills. The project will provide adult learners with practical tools to explore green occupations and develop business ideas, while supporting adult educators with methodologies and resources to guide them effectively. Digital solutions, including virtual reality simulations, a mobile application and an e-learning platform, will connect training with real workplace situations. Cooperation with green enterprises and local stakeholders will further strengthen the link between adult education, employment and sustainable entrepreneurship.

Project objectives

To provide targeted, validated training for low-skilled adults so that they can acquire green, entrepreneurial, digital and job-specific skills needed to set up a green enterprise.

To support the professional development of adult educators in the green and digital transitions, enabling them to motivate, mentor and guide learners who aspire to become green entrepreneurs.

To develop innovative, interactive and engaging digital tools and procedures, enriching learning resources through the use of virtual reality simulations.

To promote transnational blended learning and the exchange of good practices in support of digital transformation in the adult education sector.

To strengthen European, national and local networks and synergies for social innovation and sustainable development, cultivating actors of sustainable change.

Main results

GREENovation methodological pack

A set of national and comparative factsheets defining the profile of a green entrepreneur, a virtual map of green enterprises and start-ups, a competence framework covering green, entrepreneurial, digital and job-related skills, and a methodological handbook for adult educators.

GREENovation educational kit

An interactive glossary of green and business terminology using QR-code cards, together with a modularised course, videos, assessment quizzes and a validation procedure based on micro-credentials.

Green Business Model Tool

A profiling questionnaire and personalised pathway designed to guide low-skilled adults through the components of a business model and help them develop a green enterprise idea.

VR-Simulations Game

An immersive learning resource based on real-life scenarios from selected green occupations, enabling learners to explore workplace environments, responsibilities and job-specific skills.

Mobile application and interactive e-learning platform

The application will provide access to the Green Business Model Tool, while the platform will combine learning and assessment resources, validation procedures and an online space for networking and mentoring.

GREENovation Hubs

National blended learning environments for adult educators and adults with fewer opportunities, combining training, workplace visits to green enterprises and opportunities to present green business ideas.

Expected impact

GREENovation is expected to help adults with fewer opportunities strengthen their green, entrepreneurial, digital and job-related skills, improve their awareness of green employment opportunities and gain practical support to develop and refine green business ideas. Accessible blended learning, workplace simulations, visits to green enterprises and micro-credential validation are designed to support their participation in adult education and readiness for the labour market.

Adult educators are expected to broaden their teaching and mentoring methods, make greater use of inclusive digital resources and provide learning opportunities that respond more closely to labour-market needs. At community level, the GREENovation Hubs and cooperation with green enterprises are intended to strengthen local networks and increase access to green entrepreneurship training.

At national and European levels, the project will contribute to cooperation among adult education providers, businesses and other stakeholders. Its resources and networks have the potential to support further upskilling opportunities, social innovation and sustainable development beyond the project period.
